Germandrones and its Ukrainian partner PERUN Precision Works Ukraine are deepening their cooperation: more than 500 Songbird surveillance drones have been delivered to Ukrainian units in the past twelve months, accompanied by pilot training and the fulfilment of maintenance and service tasks. Meanwhile they are scaling up production, training and local technical support. Joint development work in Germany and Ukraine delivers continuous improvements to existing systems and a rapid handover of new development stages to frontline units.
Collaboration Details
• Deliveries and training Over the past twelve months more than 500 Songbird drones were delivered; PERUN provides local delivery, training and maintenance. Germandrones engineers and PERUN teams work closely with the Ukrainian armed forces to translate operational feedback into technical improvements.
• Joint engineering and frontline feedback During the last months Germandrones and PERUN engineers have cooperated on the development of the Songbird drones, systematically integrating frontline experience and user reports from active operations into ongoing improvements and planned future upgrades.
• Technical development Ongoing incremental updates improve hardware and software handling under frontline conditions as well as flight range, communication and navigation. These updates are coordinated continuously between teams in Germany and Ukraine and, after testing and approval, are delivered to the units.
• Phoenix FPV program and ammunition Complementing the Songbird project, Germandrones and PERUN cooperate on the locally produced Phoenix FPV drone, which has passed operational tests with several Ukrainian units. Active bodies for the Phoenix are provided by Ragnarök LLC, a joint venture between Germandrones and Andrey Lutsky in Ukraine. Additionally, the joint venture plans the development of interceptor systems and medium-term equipment of the NATO-countries.
• Phoenix K1 specifications and production The Phoenix K1 supports an effective payload of up to 3.5 kg and an operational range of up to 30 km. Target acquisition and tracking are supported by AI. Production capacity expansion is underway, with facilities planned to produce up to 10,000 Phoenix units per month.
