A mesh network uses a topology in which each node connects to one or multiple other nodes. This way data can be transferred to any point within the network. If a single connection fails there are usually alternative routes through the network, thus ensuring a great reliability. In the context of using mesh systems with UAS, the network may consist of one or more UAV as well as stationary or mobile ground stations. This way, a long range can be covered if required.
